    About the Artist

Eric Tippeconnic is an enrolled member of the Comanche Nation. He is the son of Norman Tippeconnic Sr. and Kirsten Tippeconnic (from Copenhagen Denmark). Eric’s work in painting is influenced from living on numerous reservations and Native communities and working with diverse Native nations his entire professional career. Using bright, rich and vibrant color combinations, Eric utilizes his artwork to capture movement that serves as a metaphor and boldly states that Native American cultures while intimately connected to their history, are in fact contemporary, alive, and constantly evolving. Eric holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Colorado State University, a Master’s Degree from the University of Colorado at Denver, and when he completed his Ph.D. in History at the University of New Mexico, he became the first Comanche to receive a Ph.D. in that field. Eric is a tenured track professor of American Indian Studies at California State University San Marcos.
