Gary Montgomery, born in 1950 in Seminole, Oklahoma, is a distinguished artist of Seminole descent. His artistic journey began in the 1970s, and he has since gained recognition for his realistic oil paintings that often depict Native American themes and Western subjects. Montgomery's upbringing on a farm with his grandparents, where he spent much time outdoors and with horses, deeply influenced his artistic perspective. He attended Jones Academy boarding school, learning English as his second language, and later pursued art and sports in college. In the 1980s, Montgomery established an art studio in Shawnee, Oklahoma, and his works have been featured in numerous exhibitions, including those at the Five Civilized Tribes Museum in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
